Abstract

Background and Aim : Shoulder impingement syndrome is a composite of symptoms from shoulder pain that arise due to clamping or pressure, this symptoms can cause repetitive movements using the shoulder joint. Shoulder impingement can cause pain and functional impairment in the shoulder and To determine the effect of manual therapy in reducing pain and function using SPADI (Shoulder Pain And Disability Index) parameters in cases of shoulder impingement syndromeSearch.

Method: Results are in accordance with the research topic to be discussed. Of the 20 articles found, further selection was carried out. There were 9 articles found that met the inclusion criteria. 20 articles were excluded because they did not discuss the interventions and parameters desired by the authors.

Results: Cervicothoracic manipulation can increase and decrease the SPADI value in SIS patients significantly (p<0.05) with a duration of 45 minutes, a frequency of 2 times a week with a minimum treatment of 6 weeks and a maximum of 16 weeks. Apart from reducing the SPADI value, the following combination of exercises can also have an effect on reducing pain, where these results provide significant results (p<0.05).

Conclusions: The results of this literature review study found that cervicothoracic manipulation combined with exercise and stretching resulted in a more efficient and effective intervention time in reducing SPADI scores in cases of shoulder impingement..
