Abstract

Background: Dynamic balance, which refers to the ability to maintain body balance while moving, is very important to support children's development. Dynamic balance disorders cause delays in motor development and decreased physical activity. Core stability exercise is an intervention as a support to improve dynamic balance ability in children. Objective: To determine the effect of core stability exercise on improving dynamic balance in preschool children. Methods: This research design is quasi-experimental with two-group pretest- posttest design. The total sample was 24 people who were selected based on the purposive sampling method and divided into 2 groups: 12 children in the core stability exercise group and 12 children in the control group. Dynamic balance was measured using the Modified Bass Test of Dynamic Balance (before and after 12 exercise sessions). Data were analyzed using normality test, specifically the Shapiro wilk test, and the hypothesis was tested using the Paired Sample T Test. Results: The mean balance before intervention in the treatment group was 43.17 and after the intervention it was 72.75, with a pvalue of 0.000 (<0.05). The mean balance before the control group was 38.08 and after 38.83, with a p-value of 0.551 (>0.05). The mean difference in the treatment group was 29.58 and in the control group was 0.75, with a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05). Conclusion: Core stability exercise interventions significantly improve the improvement of dynamic balance in preschool children. It is recommended that this exercise becomes a routine activity in schools.
