Abstract

This study was to evaluate the effect of Pursed Lip Breathing (PLB) training and Diaphragma Breathing (DB) on Oxygen Saturation (SPO2) in COPD patient in Persahabatan Hospital Rawamangun 2010. The program has been conducted for 4 weeks, three times a week. A quasi-experimental design with one group consist of 40 COPD patients. Each Groups of interventions consist of 20 COPD patients. The Pursed Lip Breathing Training program consist of maximum expiration and inspiration with the position of patient sit on the chair and Diphragma Breathing Training program consist of abdominal breathing with the positon of patient half back lying on the bed. The study showed significan increase (p<0.05) in COPD patient between Pursed Lip Breathing Training and Diaphragma Breathing Training program on Oxgygen Saturation (SPO2). There is significan different between Pursed Lip Breathing Training and Diaphragma Breathing Training program. Descriptive analyze of risk factors showed that all patient average higher than 70 years old, man higher than women and smokers higher than non-smokers. The Pursed Lip Breathing Training and Diphragma Breathing Training program can improve eficiency of oxygen consumtion that was showed by oxygen saturation parameter (SPO2) in COPD patient in Persahabatan Hospital Rawamangun East Jakarta 2010
