Abstract

This study was to evaluate the effect of Pursed Lip Breathing (PLB) Training on Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate  (ESR) on COPD 40-80 years old patient in Persahabatan Hospital Rawamangun 2010. The intervention has been conducted for 4 weeks,three times a week. The intervention using a quasi-experimental design with a group consisting of 20 COPD patient. The Pursed Lip Breathing intervention consists of maximum expiration and inspiration with the position of patient sitting on the chair. The Result of the study showed significant decrease (p < 0,05) COPD patient between pre and post Pursed Lip Breathing Training on Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate  (ESR). Descriptive of risk factor showed that all the patient of COPD average 67,68 ± 7,97 years old and for the group of PLB intervention the average 69,10 ± 6,74 years old. The Pursed Lip Breathing Training program can improve eficiency of systemic metabolism that show in Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate  (ESR) showed that there are 11 patients whose have ESR decrease between another patient COPD in Persahabatan Hospital Rawamangun 2010
