This study was conducted to evaluate the effect between Pursed Lipss Breathing (PLB) and Diaphragma Breathing (DB) on upper thoracal mobility in 30 COPD patients in Persahabatan Hospital in 2010 and to evaluate and describe the upper thoracal chest wall expansion and reduction. A quashi-experimental with pre and post design using two groups consist of PLB group and DB group. Each group consist of 15 COPD patients whose came from Medical Rehabilitation unit and from Asthma Clinic of Persahabatan Hospital. The study was designed to discover the effects of Pursed Lipss Breathing (PLB) and Diaphragma Breathing (DB) which conducted three times a week in four weeks on two groups which suitable with the inclusion and exclusion criteria with knowing the effects of this program on upper thoracal mobilty. Data were analyzed for mean using Wilcoxon rank test and Mann Whitney rank test. The study showed significant effect (p-value < 0,05) in both post PLB and DB intervention on upper thoracal mobilty, and it is also a significant differences between PLB and DB intervention, which is PLB was more significant than DB in improving the upper thoracal mobility in COPD patients. There is a significant different of upper thoracal mobility after PLB and DB intervention among the COPD patients in Persahabatan Government Hospital in 2010. But the PLB intervention have more significant increase of ventilation value on ventilation stages than DB intervention
