Abstract

This study aims to to know the effects of Propoiceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) and Acupuncture on Ambulation with Time Up & Go (TUG) Parameter based on the sex factor to evaluate ambulation ability after 12 times therapy in National Stroke Hospital Bukittinggi 2010. This study used an experimental design study with 30 patients with stroke. The study consisted of two groups, the first group are the risk factors male gender with 16 patients, and second group is the group is the female gender with 14 patients. Neuromuscular facilitation effects proprioceptive (PNF) and Acupuncture at ambulation was evaluated by time Up & Go (TUG) parameters and analyzed using a non – parametric test (Wilcoxon). This study showed a significant improvement in stroke patients at the National Hospital Stroke Bukitting 2010. The average increase the level of ambulation after intervention from 24.9 ± 7.5  to 20.4 ± 9.9 for all patients, 23.5 ± 8.1 and 18.5 ± 10.2 for group risk of male sex, 26.4 ± 6.9 and 22.5 ± 9.4 for female gender group. Intervention of PNF and Acupuncture increase of ambulation ability with Time Up & Go Parameter (TUG) in stroke patients in National Stroke Hospital Bukittinggi 2010
