Abstract

Purpose:

This study was to investigate the effect of Neuro Developmental Treatment (NDT) on Arm Motor Performance disorder that measured by Fugl-Meyer Post stroke Recovery Test at Stroke National Hospital Bukittinggi. The program has been conducted for 2 weeks, 5 times a week. 

Method:

This study used a quasi experimental design with one group consist of seventeen stroke patients (50–70 years old) who meet the standards of inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research was conducted to see the effect before and after NDT intervention with pre-post group design. Data were analysed using non-parametrical test (Wilcoxon test).

Result:

The study showed a significant increases average gross Arm Motor Performance score on Fugl Meyer test between pre and post intervention in NDT at p < 0.05. NDT intervention can increase the Fugl Meyer test score value. Means that NDT of affected upper extremities has an advantage for stroke patients to improve Arm Motor Performance.
