Abstract

Purpose:
Falls are common in older adults and lead to significant morbidity. Risk of fall can be assessed by
testing the balance performance. Turn180° test is a clinically useful of dynamic postural stability
suitable for assessing frail elderly people. This study was to evaluate a correlation between balance
test with age, length of leg and Body Mass Index in elderly women between 55−74 years old in
Wreda Rineksa Kelurahan Kelapa Dua Cimanggis Depok.
Method:
This study used Cross-sectional design balance test (Turn 180°) of seventeen healthy elderly
women (61, 29 + 4, 89 years old). Data were analyzed with parametric one-tailed (Pearson
Correlation test).
Result:
The study showed that age and balance test (Turn 180°) have positive correlation with very weak
degree (r = 0,039) and no statistically significant, length of leg and balance test (Turn 180°) have
negative correlation with poor degree (r = -0,282) and no statistically significant, Body Mass Index
and balance test (Turn 180°) have negative correlation with very weak degree (r = -0,065) and no
statistically significant. Age, length of leg and body mass index was not a significant with balance
test (Turn 180°).
