Abstract

Purpose:

This study aims to determine the effect of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) and acupuncture on memory of stroke patient at Bukittinggi Hospital 2010. The study has been conducted for 4 times a week within 3 weeks. 

 

Method:

This study was a quasi-experimental to see the effect of pre and post PNF and acupuncture with 30 samples of stroke patients. Level of Memory was measured by Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE). Data were analyzed with chi-square tests. 

 

Result:

This study showed a non-significant differentiation between of pre and post intervention of PNF and acupuncture in memory level, and there was a not a significant decrease in level of memory (p<0.05). PNF and acupuncture may not decrease a level of memory of stroke patient at National Stroke Hospital Bukittinggi 2010.
