Abstract

Background: Jumper's knee is a degenerative condition that affects the patellar tendon resulting in pain in the anterior knee of the patella. This injury is often encountered in sports that perform movements that often use repetitive jumping or running. This condition has an impact on the daily life and quality of life of the patient. The research method used is a literature review approach, with a search for references using the PICO method. Results: of the 5 journals studied eccentric exercise has an effect on improving the functional ability of athletes in cases of jumper's knee, with a therapy duration of 6x / week and a p-value of p <0.02 indicating a significant effect. Conclusion: eccentric exercise has an effect to show that there is a significant relationship between improving functional ability. From the cited journal, it is proven that there is a degree of improvement in functional ability in athletes with jumper's knee cases when measured using the Victorian Institute of Sport Assessment-Patella (VISA-P).
