Benefit of Early Childhood Growth and Development Screening at PAUD NF Institution in Banjarbaru City

Abstract

Early childhood growth and development screening is an important step in detecting potential developmental barriers early and as a basis for designing learning strategies that suit the needs and potential of children. This study aims to determine the benefits of implementing growth and development screening during New Student Admission (PPDB) in PAUD institutions. The research method used was a qualitative approach with in-depth interview techniques to the school principal as the main resource person. The results showed that screening during PPDB helps teachers understand children's characteristics and needs from the beginning, so that the screening results can be a reference for teachers in children's learning. In addition, the screening results are not used as a basis for rejecting children who experience delays, but as a basis for collaborating with parents in developing an initial agreement regarding therapeutic needs and patterns of assistance in the classroom and parenting at home. Thus, the learning process becomes more inclusive and children's development can be optimized through good collaboration between teachers and parents.
