Abstract

Purpose : The aims of this study is to determine the relationship between number of children and antenatal depression in pregnant women using Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) in Kecamatan Leuwiliang Bogor. Method : This study is a further analysis which is using previous study data base. The total sample of this study was 100 pregnant women in Kecamatan Leuwiliang, Kabupaten Bogor. The number of children identified using the B2 block questionnaire in history of pregnancy and childbirth part, while the examination of depressed pregnant women was taken using the Edingburgh postnatal depression scale (EPDS) questionnaire. Results : The results of this study showed that of 100 samples of pregnant women, the number of children was 37% and the number of children was 63%. Pregnant women with severe depression as many as 71 persons (71%). Pregnant women with few children and major depression as many as 45 persons (71.4%) of the available samples. The correlation between the number of children and depression of pregnant women has a result of r = -0.03 and p = 0.75.Conclusion: This study shown there is no significant correlation between the number of children and antenatal depression in pregnant women in Kecamatan Leuwiliang, Kabupaten Bogor.
