Abstract

Background: Degenerative processes that occur in older people would result in impaired function, one of which is a physiological function such as the need for rest and sleep. Sleep needs will get worse as you get older. At 12 years of age the individual's need for sleep is 8 hours, then at 40 years of age the need for sleep is reduced to 7 hours and when it reaches 60 years of age and the need for sleep drops to 6 hours. The physiotherapy procedure with a slow stroke back massage has shown good results in reducing sleep disorders in the elderly.

Method: The study USES a case study where the sample consists of three samples of patients in the category of sleep quality disorders, a range score (8-14) with a three-minute interval of SSBM intervention.

Results: During a 9-time SSBM found significant range score increases with an average (3-7) and a fairly good category.

Conclusion: There is great benefit from giving an SSBM to improving sleep quality in the elderly.
