Abstract

Patients in the ICU need to be constantly monitored, get special interventions and need great attention. Massage therapy is the most common therapy used by nurses, and has been shown to reduce blood pressure. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Massage Therapy (MT) in adult patients in the ICU. Literature review research was conducted using a PICO search in several databases such as Google Scholar, Science Direct, and Pubmed. There were 10 journals that met the criteria and showed that Massage Therapy which was carried out with a duration of 15 minutes applied with moderate pressure with a p-value <0.05 showed a significant effect on reducing BP in adult patients in the ICU. It can be concluded that massage therapy is effective in reducing BP in adult patients in the ICU.
