PENGARUH INTERVENSI DIAPHRAGMA BREATHING TERHADAP SATURASI OKSIGEN PADA PASIEN PPOK DI RS PERSAHABATAN RAWAMANGUN
Keywords:
Diaphragmatic Breathing, Oxygen Saturation (SpO2), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)Abstract
Purpose:
This study was to evaluate the effect of diaphragmatic breathing (DB) training on oxygen
saturation (SpO2) in COPD patient based on age factor in Persahabatan Hospital, Rawamangun
2010. The program has been conducted for 4 weeks, three times a week.
Method:
The study was a quasi-experimental design with groups of ≤ 70 years and > 70 years old
patients. Each group consists of 10 patients. The DB training program consists of facilitating
outward motion of the abdominal wall while reducing upper rib cage motion during inspiration
with the position of patient lying back on the bed. The study showed significant increase of
SpO2 mean in group ≤ 70 years (2, 74%) and in group of > 70% (1,66%).
Result:
Descriptive analysis of risk factors showed that men have 95% higher risk of COPD than
women, and smokers 85% higher than non-smokers. Patients age 66,25 ± 8,99 years old. The
DB training program can improve efficiency of oxygen consumption and ultimately decrease the
symptoms of COPD such as shortness of breath.
