Pengaruh Kecerdasan Emosional Terhadap Strategi Coping Stress Pada Siswa SMK Di Makasar Jakarta Timur

This study aims to determine the effect of emotional intelligence on stress coping strategies among Vocational High School (SMK) students in Makasar, East Jakarta. Stress coping strategies are strategies that include an individual's ability to recognize, handle, and manage problems perceived as pressure or stressors, which can be influenced by factors such as physical health, social support, beliefs, and emotional intelligence. This research is a quantitative study using a non-probability sampling method with 322 SMK students in Makasar, East Jakarta, as subjects. Data collection in this study utilized The Schinte Emotional Intelligence Scale (SEIS), which consists of 28 items with a reliability coefficient of 0.917, and the brief COPE, which consists of 26 items with a reliability coefficient of 0.895. This study employs simple linear regression data analysis techniques to determine the effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable, processed using SPSS version 26. Based on the analysis, the t-test yielded a value of 4.468 > 1.967 (t table) with a significance level of 0.000, indicating a significant influence of emotional intelligence on stress coping strategies. The coefficient of determination (R^2) was 0.063, suggesting that emotional intelligence contributes effectively by 6.3% to stress coping strategies, while 93.7% is attributed to other factors beyond the scope of this study.
