OPTIMASI NANONISASI JAHE MERAH DAN KAYU SECANG MELALU PLANETARY BALL MILL: KARAKTERISASI AWAL UNTUK FORMULASI MINUMAN NANO-HERBAL IMUNOMODULATOR

Jahe merah (Zingiber officinale var. rubrum) dan kayu secang (Caesalpinia sappan) merupakan tanaman herbal kaya senyawa bioaktif berpotensi untuk kesehatan dan pangan fungsional. Nanonisasi meningkatkan efektivitas senyawa bioaktif dengan memperkecil ukuran partikel, sehingga memperluas luas permukaan dan meningkatkan bioavailabilitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimasi proses nanonisasi jahe merah dan kayu secang dengan variasi waktu milling serta mengevaluasi pengaruhnya terhadap ukuran partikel dan keseragaman distribusi ukuran partikel. Serbuk jahe merah dan kayu secang diproses menggunakan Planetary Ball Mill selama 2, 4, 6, 10, dan 12 jam. Karakterisasi ukuran partikel dilakukan menggunakan Zetasizer Pro dengan parameter yang diamati meliputi ukuran rata-rata partikel (Z-Average), indeks polidispersitas (PI), distribusi ukuran partikel (D10, D50, D90), serta persentase partikel dalam rentang ukuran yang diinginkan (In Range (%)). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan durasi milling menyebabkan penurunan ukuran partikel dan peningkatan keseragaman distribusi partikel. Ukuran rata-rata partikel jahe merah menurun dari 1054 nm (2 jam) menjadi 498,9 nm (12 jam), dengan indeks polidispersitas yang menurun dari 0,7194 menjadi 0,5025. Serbuk kayu secang mengalami fluktuasi ukuran pada durasi awal milling, tetapi menunjukkan penurunan ukuran hingga mencapai 204,6 nm pada 12 jam, dengan indeks polidispersitas yang menurun dari 1,0000 menjadi 0,4254. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu durasi milling yang lebih lama menghasilkan partikel yang lebih kecil dan lebih seragam; durasi 12 jam merupakan kondisi optimum pada penelitian ini. Temuan ini menjadi dasar awal untuk tahap formulasi minuman nano-herbal berbasis jahe dan kayu secang.
